How can you use crystals and Feng Shui to maximize the energy of your space?
Feng Shui can be traced back to around 960 BC and it encompasses many different meanings. There are many ways to use Feng Shui in your home, office or home office space. Feng Shui translates to "wind and water". They are the two basic elements needed to sustain life. All areas of the earth contain wind and water circulating "chi" - known as life energy. Feng Shui is often referred to as the art of layout, which circulates and balances your personal energy. You can use crystals to enhance or minimize the energy you need.
To get started with Feng Shui, it's important to clear the space of clutter in order to allow the chi in the room to flow freely. This doesn't mean you need to get rid of everything, but rather you want to remove any obstacles or anything that is blocking the energy in the space. This is especially true of items that block doorways and windows, as that is where the energy comes in and goes out. Clutter in the home should be seen as a blockage in an artery or a tumor in the body.
Objects send subconscious conversations, so if anything in your home is broken, either fix it or throw it away immediately so as not to handicap yourself. If you find that the broken object is still beautiful, there is no need to throw it away. Just like a wall hanging, a gift you've been given by an energy-sucking friend will remind you of a negative experience; it's best to donate it or throw it away. It's also a good idea to keep wall hangings and shelves at eye level or lower so that you don't send the message that your goals and wishes are out of reach. Similarly, you don't want items so low that you gaze downward, which can send subliminal messages about limiting yourself.
Next you need to understand the five elements of Feng Shui: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.
In general, it is best to keep all Feng Shui elements in balance, or to use 3-5 Feng Shui elements per space. The Feng Shui elements themselves provide unique energies and interact with each other to create a strengthening or weakening effect. Before we delve into how the Feng Shui elements interact with each other, it is important to understand the basic principles of each Feng Shui element.

WOOD
Wood energy in Feng Shui is nourishing, promotes physical and mental growth, and is great for new beginnings. The symbols of Feng Shui wood energy are green and brown (think of the colors of living things, i.e. flowers, plants) and can include light and medium blue and rectangular shapes. Wood energy is known to be vital to our health and can improve eating spaces, children's rooms and project spaces. Extremely fast baking for a crispy outside and soft inside!
Wood energy crystals include: Green Aventurine,Green Calcite, Olivine, Emerald, Grape Stone, Jade, Green Opal, Malachite, Chicken Bloodstone, Green Apatite and so on.

It is represented by red tones (including orange and purple) and triangles. Fire energy in Feng Shui is suitable for use in spaces where high energy is required and can be utilized to enhance the sun's energy during the winter months when sunlight is less available.
Red, orange and purple crystals bring this energy into the space, such as Red Jasper, Rhodochrosite,Red Garnet, Goldstone, Carnelian, Calcite (pink, red and orange), Rose Quartz, Amethyst.
EARTH
Earth energy in Feng Shui is grounding, balancing and stabilizing. Earth energy is symbolized by light brown, russet and square shapes. You may be wondering, "How do I know what my space needs?"
People often intuitively find something that contains the energy they need and surprise themselves! It is helpful to do these things when starting to work with Feng Shui energy:
Walk into a space, look around and think about what kind of activities you do or want to do in that space. Do you want this space to be Yin or Yang?
Yin = Stability, Vitality, Introspection, Cool Colors
Yang = Change, Expression, Socialization, Warm Colors
What emotions am I currently feeling in this space? What is making me feel this way? Specialize in things that bring you joy/energy you want to feel.
Take note of which items no longer serve you. Once you have a plan for your space, start removing your items. Then assess the flow of the space and visualize energy and eyes moving through the space easily and calmly. Remove anything around the space that is blocking a smooth path, then organize and get the space organized.
*Holding the Prehnite while performing this exercise can help you see clutter and things you no longer need. The Prehnite can also help you organize items you want to keep.
- Yin and Yang are balances of Chi/Energy.
- Opposites cannot exist without each other, but they also support each other. Examples: Hot/Cold, Male/Female, Light/Dark, Birth/Death.
-
Yang is extroverted, easily agitated, strong in action, and concerned about the big picture.
Yin is introverted, good at thinking, good at details. - Yang Elements - Earth, Wood, Fire
- Yin Elements - Earth, Water, Gold
- Earth is a balanced element, so it can be either Yin or Yang.
The Feng Shui elements are related to each other in the following way:

Wood makes Fire
Fire makes Earth
Earth makes Metal
Metal overcomes Water
Water makes Wood
The energy/support relationship in Wind and Water means that if you want to enhance the energy of an element, find it on this chart and move counterclockwise to see the energy element. Fire is fueled by wood energy. For example, pairing Carnelian (or other Fire Stones) with Jade (or other Wood Stones) enhances the energy of Fire.
Wood overcomes Earth
Earth overcomes Water
Water overcomes Fire
Fire melting Metal
Metal overcomes Wood
Diminishing relationships are best used in rooms where you can't remove the elements you want to diminish (like wood paneling on the walls) or change the space (apartment living) without an expensive renovation. Let's take wood paneling as an example, since there are too many wood elements on the walls, you need to use metal element items to reduce the impact of the wood elements. Metal element crystals such as pyrite or any metal crystal you want can be placed in this space.
Let's go to the crystal placement:
- Black Tourmaline is placed at the outdoor entrance to protect itself.
- Amethyst in the living room for anxiety and self-control.
- Celestite placed in the gathering place helps in communication.
- Selenite is placed under the bed or under the pillow to bring positive energy.
- Rose Quartz in the bedroom brings the energy of love.
- Citrine in the office to focus your attention.
- Schungite is placed next to electronic equipment for electromagnetic shielding.
